Introduction

If your PetSafe Extreme Weather Pet Door's (models ZPA19-16853, ZPA19-16854, and ZPA19-16855) bracket has broken or cracked, use this guide to replace it.

The bracket holds the door flaps in place. When it becomes broken, the flaps will no longer stay within the door leaving your home open to elements and unwanted pests.

Before using this guide, ensure you order the proper replacement bracket for your door. There are three sizes of doors and corresponding brackets that can be either be identified by the model number or number of screws on your pet door. The medium door (model number ZPA19-16853) has 4 screws, the large door (ZPA19-16854) has 5 screws, and the extra large (ZPA19-16855) has 6 screws.

Remove the 12.7mm screws from the frame of the dog door assembly using a Phillips screwdriver.

Remove the broken bracket and the flaps.

Reinsert the dog flaps between the new bracket and the door frame.
Make sure to insert in the correct order from front to back: the translucent flap, the opaque flap, then the bracket.

Reinsert and partially tighten the 12.7mm screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
It is helpful to have a second person to help with this step; it can be difficult to hold the flaps and bracket in place while tightening the screws.
